The Low Payment Kings at FIAT of Winter Haven have compiled a list of supplies to keep on-hand in your vehicle’s first aid kit.

We don’t really think about “what would happen if …”  Well, as much as a seat belt is necessary for your safety, you should also consider including these supplies for your vehicle’s first aid kit. And, for those of us with children, there are probably a few extra items that may be necessary. For instance, think about your child participating in a sport with you watching in the stands, in this scenario it would be useful to have something on-hand just in case of an emergency. At FIAT of Winter Haven, we want to make sure you and your family are safe on and off the road, so read on to consider these items for your vehicle’s first aid kit.

List of Vehicle First Aid Kit Supplies from FIAT of Winter Haven

First of all, a First Aid container— as opposed to a bag— is preferable because this will help prevent items from getting squashed. A clear box with plastic compartments will help so items are in plain view. Also, we don’t recommend putting any kind of lock on it because easy access to the items is necessary in any emergency.

Some items you may want to supply yourself with are bandages, gauze pads, safety pins, adhesive, antibiotic ointment, hydrocortisone, antiseptic wipes, pain reliever such as aspirin or ibuprofen, insect bite spray, cotton balls, Vaseline, a thermometer, tweezers, curved scissors, and needles. Also, especially in Florida, it could be a good idea to supply yourself with sunscreen.

Most of these items are for non-emergencies, but to have something for emergencies, you may want to supply the kit (or make a separate kit) with hot and cold packs, rubber gloves, a CPR mask, and extra plastic bags to dispose of potentially contaminated items.

Also, having a copy of an up to date First Aid manual for your vehicle’s first aid kit can always come in handy.

Furthermore, While some of these supplies may not be considered first aid items, drivers may want to consider having them, just in case of an emergency: flashlight and batteries, a light stick, a phone charger, a sling, and nonperishable food and water can also be helpful if your vehicle breaks down.

Take a little time to prepare your car’s first aid kit and hopefully you will never need to use it, but if you do, you’ll be glad to have it on-hand. Stop by FIAT of Winter Haven dealership or contact us for any questions you may have.
